Author Eli (rhymes with “deli”) Greenbaum grew up in Detroit, Michigan, where he worked in advertising and practiced law.

Eli earned a BA and a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University. He has worked as an advertising copywriter and newspaper and magazine feature writer. Eli has co-authored a copywriting textbook, written a book about how to draw cars, and ghostwritten a non-fiction book for a best-selling author-entrepreneur. He’s also written essays and award-winning short stories.

Eli’s advertising career started during the original Mad Men era. Since then, he’s worked with international powerhouse agencies including Young & Rubicam, McCann International, and Saatchi & Saatchi/Compton and boutique shops in roles ranging from copywriter to creative director. His work has been recognized with numerous Clio, Caddy, and Addy awards.

Eli has taught copywriting at the university level—at Wayne State University, Michigan State University—and lectured at the College for Creative Studies. He was also elected twice to the Bloomfield Township (Michigan) Public Library board of trustees.

As a lawyer, Eli has represented clients from all walks of life—blue collar, white collar, dirty collar—in an array of legal matters. He is a member of the California and Michigan state bar associations.

Eli’s co-conspirator is his wife, Barbara Bloom. The founder and principal of Bloom Ink; she often serves as Eli’s muse, editor, and toughest critic.
